Sewing Policies

Today, a colleague of mine had a very interesting chat to Paypal and their 180 day no claim policy. Let me explain.
If you purchase goods or services through Paypal, they allow up to 180 days (that’s 6 months) for the purchaser to make a claim if the goods or services were NOT RECEIVED, not necessarily whether they were not as you imagined.
For example, a whole lot of people were sent to me to ask for refunds for pattern purchases, after they were instructed and encouraged to do so, because of something they thought to be true, which had NOTHING to do with my pattern. They claimed the goods were not as described. They wanted their money back. Um, no, sorry. You can’t read a book and ask for a refund because you didn’t like it. Well you can ask for one, but you’re not getting one. If the pattern was delivered, we’re done.
But let’s say some video workshops AND a new pattern were purchased. No set date was given for when these would be provided. There was one date given for 15 March 2017 for a pattern to be delivered, but this has come and gone and still no pattern or workshop.

So the way Paypal sees it is this. If there is no date for the product release — there is no time for the 180 day period to start. It doesn’t matter what day they actually paid for the product. If there is a firm date given, say the 15 March 2017 and that date passes without product, all sales start from that date, taking into consideration the date of payment and why the vendor has NOT PROVIDED THE PRODUCT.
So my friends, you may have thought that $9.00 was not important to you anyway and it really doesn’t matter. But how many people do you think it takes to think the same way, to provide $50,000.00 to someone?
I can tell you, it will not take too many people to ask for their money back and the whole scheme will come crashing down.
It turns out, which I didn’t know, you can’t file for bankruptcy 3 times. Two times, OK. Third time, it’s the big house for you.
I can hear the gates closing now.
Carry on.
