Sewing Sheep

There is an old saying in business. You can slaughter a cow once, but you can sheer a sheep for life.

In real terms what this means is, you can only rip someone off once and they won’t come back.

But.

You can keep taking little bits over and over again and keep them coming back for more.

An example.

You sell workshops – everyone wants them – you don’t make them.

Instead you sell them the accessories they will need to make the bag that will feature in the workshop, if it is ever made. Then you send them to fabric and interfacing, that you can’t afford to stock yourself, but you still make commission through your affiliate link.

Then you run a retreat – highly profitable – and it gives a small group of your sheep kudos because they are part of the ‘inner circle’. The favourite sheep of the flock. They come away converted, glad that they weren’t totally slaughtered.

Even though you are sheering the sheep and not actually slaughtering them, some of them take themselves so close to being slaughtered, either financially or emotionally, they don’t even notice until it is too late.

Take a step back and think and even add up, how much money have you parted with over the last 12 months so, and did you get your money’s worth? Who has their hands operating you?

Carry on.
