Sew It’s a Long Road

I woke up this morning thinking about a transaction and conversation I had with a customer yesterday.

They had bought one of the patterns and were not happy. They paid $2.00 and demanded their money back. They were ‘straight forward’ in their critique of our pattern and actually quite hurtful.

They opened a paypal case just to really drive the point home.

So of course I refunded the whole $2.00 and asked them to destroy their copy of my work. This made me think of two things.

Firstly, buying a pattern is like buying a book. You may or may not like it but you can’t ask the author for a refund just because you didn’t.

Secondly, the customer had received their product, paid the whole $2.00, and still demanded a refund. $2.00.

So what would be happening in the opposition camp, for people who have paid significantly more, still not got product, and still fed rubbish about technical issues? They must be in a world of pain over there if my customers are demanding refunds and opening cases for $2.00 – what would they be doing for over $100?

Just to add some acid to their wounds, in terms of technical difficulties, just saying, put my whole course up in a week, over 16 videos, all edited, rendered and uploaded. So if you want to make 2019 the year your handmade business goes to the next level, learn how to sell online (and blog if you want to). If you sign up for the hashtag list you will get a coupon to save $50.00 on the beginner course.

I’m happy to serve. I’m happy to keep my customers happy. $2.00 is a big deal to people. I get that. It’s a principle. The world of pain someone else must be in makes me smile though.

Carry on and let fear drive you forward.

P.S. if you haven’t got your copy of Sewing Wars (number one on amazon in its category) you can get your ebook on the site now.
