Sew You Want to be a Developer
Dear oh dear oh dear. Running a website sure is complicated isn’t it? As you can see from mine it’s been up and running all this time while I was sleeping, without breaking.
It took me years, I mean years, of self education, several websites, losing databases, retrieving databases, getting hacked, fixing hacks and I still know only barely enough to keep this up and running (and a few others).
I never professed to be a developer. Developers are in a realm of their own. I only said I could get a wordpress site up and running with a membership section, which I did, and which managed to bring in $90,000 in 3 days.
Just so you understand the process I’m going to spell it out to you here, so you know how much actual bullshit you are being fed.
When you make a video – even on your phone – you upload it to Youtube or Vimeo (the choice of most course providers) and you can set it to private or public and there are about 50 different options you can do to it to restrict access, but basically it’s pretty straight forward – you set it to private.
Then you copy and paste the embed code from the site and paste it into the post on your WordPress site.
And That’s IT.
With regards to traffic and memberships let me explain that to you as well.
This blog is running on the minimum hosting package available. I get over 1,000 visits a day. It hasn’t broke once. Now if I have videos EMBEDDED into the site with code, my site is not hosting them or using its power to actually PLAY those videos. They are hosted on Youtube or Vimeo or wherever else. The code simply triggers the playing of them.
Let’s, for argument’s sake, say that there is an issue with the demand on the website. My solution, especially for people who have already paid for the content and are waiting (for years now) would be to send them directly to the youtube or vimeo site where the videos are hosted so I could leverage the computing power of that site, and also give access to my customers. It’s not hard. The settings are right there in front of you in the panel. You give the customers the password to access them or however else you want to do it and voila.
The reason, and let me be crystal clear on this, that there is such a delay and blame put on the website is because THERE ARE NO VIDEOS and THERE IS, AND NEVER WILL BE ANOTHER PATTERN.
